We possessed the first edition of this rare and sought-after text, which exhaustively describes the statutes and legislation from Charlemagne to Charles the Bald. The precision of this analysis likely stems from the fact that the author, a renowned Florentine jurist (1651-1719), held high office at the Papal Court. The first two books are devoted to Church legislation, while the last two deal with state affairs. Having received the approval of the churches of France, Germany, and Italy, this work served for many years in the instruction of officials in civil and canon law.
