    Octavo, contemporary full pigskin binding, smooth spine, handwritten title in ink on the spine, magnificent two-color woodblock printing in two columns with marginal notes, very fine layout, salamander tailpiece on the title page, quarter-page engravings at the beginning of each chapter [4], full-page illustration of the tree Arboris civilis declaratio peculiaris (some stains on the cover, light soiling, slight wormhole at the hinge without affecting the text, short margins). Copy in very good condition, [48] - 392 p.
    This edition is missing from many commonly consulted libraries (Columbia University Libraries holds a copy of the 1580 edition). It is a rare and late edition, with Cornello's notes, of Justinian's Institutes of Civil Law, with commentary by the Florentine jurist Aldobrandini (1499-1558). Professor De Oliviero Diliberto devotes more than three pages to explaining the publication of these Institutes, considered the standard reference work until the end of the 16th century (Bibliografia ragionata del Edizione a stampa della lege delle XII tavole, Robin Edizioni).
