This excellent thesis focuses on the "Reform" undertaken by Chancellor Maupeou of the parliaments in response to their policy of systematically obstructing royal legislation. It led to the exile of all members of the Parliament of Paris. Beyond its disciplinary aspects, Maupeou's Reform aimed in particular to abolish the sale of offices, ensure free access to justice, and streamline the judicial system. In this respect, it represents a remarkable anticipation of the revolutionary agenda. This thesis remains cited in all bibliographies on the subject (see, for example, J.-P. Royer, *Histoire de la justice en France*, 2nd ed., no. 153).
