Patris was an expressionist painter, ceramicist, and sculptor of busts, portraits, heads, figures, and war memorials. Trained at the University of Labour in Charleroi, he studied foundry work and anatomy at the Academy of Ghent. He created his first works in 1930 and, from 1937 onward, devoted himself entirely to painting and sculpture. He established a ceramics workshop in Marchienne-au-Pont in the province of Hainaut (1952) and a lost-wax bronze casting workshop (1955). He also founded a sculpture school and became a gallery owner in Ostend in 1959. He sculpted numerous public monuments, including those in La Hulpe, Courcelles, Marcinelle, and Monceau-sur-Sambre. (Beuzet/Namur 1909 - Natoye 1981).
