    This study is directly inspired by the author's thesis, which adopted the same title but in reverse (Economic Concentration and Competition Law Systems). "The author's aim is twofold. First, he intended to present a synthesis of how economic concentration is addressed by the various categories of rules that comprise competition law. But the reader is also invited to reflect on the nature of this law, on the interaction between the economic penalties it serves and the purely legal values ​​it still embodies. (...) The first part, entitled 'The Need for Control: The Degree of Concentration as a Factor in Legal Classification,' is devoted to highlighting how the implementation of the prohibition of cartels, abuse of dominant position, or monopolization can be influenced by the structure of the market in question and the links between the companies involved." (…) In the second part (“The Rise of Control: The Merger Operation, Subject to Legal Classification”), the author, paraphrasing Melchior’s famous phrase, seeks to place concentration within “the drawers of the legal system.” Concretely, this means examining whether the merger operation can be classified as a cartel or an abuse of a dominant position. (…) The third part considers the “fate of control.” The author questions whether the merger operation is becoming a “legal category.” His analysis provides a synthesis of modern merger law. (H.
