A collection of two speeches delivered during the debate on a bill aimed at preventing the reformation of clubs after 1830 (the Law of April 10, 1834, on associations, which specifically declared illegal any groups with religious, literary, political, or other objectives formed without government approval). Guizot's speech was partially incorporated into the entry on "illegal associations" in the Dalloz general jurisprudence, while Thiers's speech is particularly interesting because the former secretary of Talleyrand faced fierce opposition from experienced debaters (Isambert, Berryer, Odilon) who proved remarkably challenging. A rare collection.
