Small duodecimo, full mottled brown calfskin, gilt title on brown morocco, spine with four raised bands decorated with gilt plaques, compartments adorned with central fleurons and framed by gilt fillets, mottled edges, handwritten bookplate on the title page, (first few pages slightly acidified, dark dampstain covering part of the book but not affecting the legibility of the text), clean interior. [This book comes from the personal library of Professor Jean Carbonnier (1908-2003)], 167 leaves.
The first three editions of this text were published in Lyon in 1549 and 1553, in Venice in 1550, and finally in Toulouse in 1554. Our copy is particularly rare, as no French research library possesses it, not even the Bibliothèque nationale de France or the Cujas Library. This edition is indeed complete with the Poem of Jacques Ysnard d'Orange in honor of the author.
