Competition law, a fascinating, dynamic, and disruptive field, is now essential for anyone interested in business law. Touching upon economic life, this branch of law is, therefore, constantly evolving. Understanding and correctly applying it requires knowledge of its logic, objectives, mechanisms, and the major milestones that have led to its current state. The aim of this book is to present these. Both doctrinal and technical, it is the product of the combined expertise of academics and judges, private and public law specialists. It offers students, academics, lawyers, and legal practitioners a comprehensive and richly illustrated handbook. Both French and European Union law on anti-competitive practices are examined, as applied in France by the Competition Authority and the various competent courts. After defining the key concepts of the field (relevant market, undertaking, etc.), the book describes the conditions for classifying the main competition law offenses (anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position and economic dependence, excessively low prices). It then presents a detailed and well-documented explanation of the procedural law before addressing its implementation by the Competition Authority, the ordinary courts (judicial and administrative), and arbitration tribunals. Far from being a simple re-edition of the book published in 1994, this book is rooted in the major trends that characterize the field: European integration, the increasing role of economic reasoning, the importance of sanctions, legal proceedings, and negotiated instruments, the impact of networks, etc. It thus hopes to provide both answers and food for thought.
