    The first part of this treatise, devoted to the nature and function of the Ombudsman, comprises half of this volume. It consists of an examination of the origins of the institution and its Nordic extensions. While the second part appears to be a comparative study of the office of the Parliamentary Delegate (the Ombudsman), the author is, in reality, defining the principles of non-contentious external oversight of the judiciary and the administration. This work received an exceptionally warm reception from Nordic critics, who are generally rather harsh.
