“Mr. P. Ourliac presents us today with twenty-seven decisions rendered by the Superior Court of Perpignan from 1947 to 1970, and he provides a learned commentary on their content. It should come as no surprise to find that it is primarily property law and family law that most faithfully preserve the old customs: one should note, in particular, the persistent concern to maintain the unity of the family estate, which leads to the designation of a single heir by the deceased himself or by two of his relatives whom he has authorized to make this choice after his death. We must thank Mr. P. Ourliac for providing us with this collection, the value of which will not escape either comparatists or historians of customary law.” (Pierre Clément Timbal, RIDC, no. 2/1974, pp. 411-412).
