BLANCHE (Alfred) et al.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE DICTIONARY containing the definition of all words in administrative language
Date :
    1849
    large octavo volume.
The general dictionary of administration presented here constitutes one of the reference works on administrative law in the mid-19th century. Benefiting from contributions of public law theory, it adapts it to the practical requirements of administration. Still cited as a reference by the great authors of the late 19th century (see, for example, L. Aucoc, L'administration et le droit administratif, vol. 1, p. 50, 1878 edition), it also testifies to the great disorder of legal concepts and administrative litigation at that time (see, for example, the entry on abuse of power: "the applications of practice have sown such confusion on the subject we are dealing with that it seems impossible to define it in a perfectly precise manner"). The notices relating to the organization of administrative litigation were written by State Councillor M. Boulatignier, who was the professor and mentor of L. Aucoc at the School of Administration in 1848 and 1849, and who also worked with Macarel on the “Tableau de la fortune publique en France”.
