    “Professor Rouast directed its preparation and, from forty analytical entries, compiled using an identical questionnaire, extracted a number of comparative insights of the highest interest. The various entries were written by eminent figures who are often, in their respective countries, the very specialists in this field. This means that the information provided by this work can be used and compared with complete confidence. A research committee was tasked with overseeing the preparation of this volume; but it is only fair to acknowledge the immense debt this publication owes to the particular care of Mr. Imre Zajtay, who will find in the well-deserved success of this work the reward for his sustained personal effort. (…) As Dean de la Morandière emphasizes in his preface, the publication of such a work is particularly timely at a moment when, even in France, the question of reforming matrimonial property regimes is once again being raised. Consulting this book allows us to see that the problem is not only being studied in France.” Many of the envisaged legislations have clearly not yet found their definitive system or, more simply, their point of equilibrium.
