First published in Madrid in 1628, this book is a commentary on the laws and statutes of the town of Taurisano (Toro), located in the Salento region of southern Italy. The Count of Taurisano was the town's feudal lord, and his commentary on local laws aimed to clarify their interpretation and application. Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas's commentary is considered one of the most important works of 17th-century Spanish jurisprudence. It influenced many subsequent jurists and scholars and is still studied by legal historians for its contribution to understanding the legal history of southern Italy.
