    2 vols. in-4, full mottled calf, gilt title on spine with 5 raised bands decorated with gilt fleurons, marbled edges, initials and vignettes, ornamental garlands, manuscript Ex-Libris, (binding rubbed with numerous abrasions, faded gilts, rubbed edges, corners sometimes bumped with missing pieces, upper headcaps slightly damaged, wormholes through but without real impact on reading, slight dampstaining on the pastedowns and first pages, rare foxing), interior fresh and well preserved, [14 ff.]-496-XXXIX / [6 ff.]-932-LXXXIV-968 p.     There is no finer praise than that found in the foreword to the reader: “One should not, however, expect discourses whose politeness will charm even the most refined; it is a garden more useful than pompous, and where doctrine plants more fruit than beautiful style sows flowers.” This is the third and final edition of this collection, and while the commentaries on most of the rulings are exactly the same as those in the first edition, some have substantial additional sections (see Chapter II, Tithes in Feudal Tenancy, etc.).
