A very rare copy of the original edition of this text (the reprint by Éditions la Mémoire du Droit is out of print), which can perhaps be considered the author's final expression of thought. Based on lectures given at Cairo University in 1926, it was published the year of his death, in 1928. In this text, Léon Duguit continues the work of responding to the criticisms leveled against him, begun in Volumes 1 and 2 of the 3rd edition of his Treatise on Constitutional Law. From a certain perspective, these lectures can be considered to contain the material for updating the subsequent volumes of the treatise, which the author was unable to complete, particularly regarding administrative law and the law of public liberties.
