Dramard (no. 1406) mentions, with regard to this very rare work, that "the new legislation on inheritance is one of those that gives rise to the most heated controversies in the application of its details; although since Vazeille the questions that were the subject of these controversies have been enriched with new elements of solution, they were almost all already being raised in his time. The sources of instruction were already rich and abundant. Vazeille considered that they were even already too numerous and that their multiplicity could become a cause of error." He therefore proposed to provide an abridged table of the main commentaries on succession, donations and wills, tables offering “the rules that have become certain, the explanation of the rules that have been neglected or incompletely demonstrated, the divergent views, the contrary doctrines, their examination and the superior decision, worthy of being followed, or the proposal of the course that seems the most just” (...) the usefulness of such a work is as great today as it was forty years ago, and Vazeille's book is one of those that would benefit from being updated and which, once brought up to date, would be a valuable manual on succession, donations and wills”.
