    In 2005, the Henri Capitant Association of Friends of French Legal Culture and the French Society for Comparative Legislation joined the Network of Excellence established and funded by the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Community, with the aim of developing a Common Reference Framework in the field of European contract law. These two associations were tasked with developing a common contractual terminology and guiding principles for European contract law. They also undertook the revision of the Principles of European Contract Law. This work was submitted to the European Commission in French and English. Carried out by French and European academics belonging to the Henri Capitant Association and the French Society for Comparative Legislation, it is the result of extensive research. It constitutes an essential tool for strengthening the coherence and convergence of national contract laws in Europe. This volume contains the work devoted to the guiding principles of European contract law, written under the scientific direction of Guillaume Wicker, as well as the draft revision of the Principles of European Contract Law, directed by Jean-Baptiste Racine.
