The editions of Cormenin's *Le Livre des Orateurs* (The Book of Orators). *Le Livre des Orateurs* is a composite work, containing two main parts. First, a treatise on the art of oratory, especially in the political and legal professions. Second, a series of portraits of prominent figures of the time, which were initially published in *La Nouvelle Minerve* between 1832 and 1835. This collection first appeared in 1836 from the publishers of *La Nouvelle Minerve* (one volume, octavo). A second edition was published the following year (duodecimo), followed by several others until 1840. In total, probably ten editions were produced (the last two being in duodecimo volumes). These are rare and seldom found in libraries. A new publisher, Pagnerre, then took over, and published six new editions within five years: 1842: 11th ed., 1 vol. in-8°, 576 pp., 27 portraits; 1842: 12th ed., same description; 1844: 13th ed., 1 vol. in-8°, 547 pp., 27 portraits; 1844: 14th ed., same description; 1847: 15th ed., 2 vols. in-8°, 360/378 pp., 27 portraits; 1847: 17th ed., same description. It should be noted that two editions appeared in Belgium during this period. The first was marked "12th ed." Brussels, Hauman, 1843,” which is probably a counterfeit, since it reproduces an edition number already used by the French publisher. The second, dating from 1848, in 2 volumes, bears the date of the 16th edition, which the French publisher did not use. Finally, a last edition appeared in 1869 (one year after the author's death), significantly enlarged, particularly with some of the author's short pamphlets, with new portraits and an appendix by Louandre (2 vols. in-8, 411/405 pp.). This work also saw several translations: Das Buch der Redner, Weber, Leipzig, 1843 (translated from the 11th edition), which had a second edition, Lork, Berlin and Leipzig, 1848; Orators of France, Baker and Scribner, New York, 1847, 382 pp. The Orators of France, M'Glasham, Dublin 1849, 390 p. translated from the 15th ed. with an introduction by J.T. Headley. Libro de los oradores, translated from the 17th ed. with an appendix by Don J. Bermudez de Castro; Paris: Rosa, Bouret y Ca, 1853 (2nd ed. in 1857, 3rd in 1863, 4th in 1867 and 5th in 1872).
