    2 vols. folio, full mottled brown calf, gilt titles and volumes on spines with 6 raised bands, compartments richly decorated with double fillets framing, lacework, friezes, fleurons and gilt floral motifs, gilt coats of arms on the covers, gilt rolls on the edges, double column printing in Latin with marginal annotations, mottled edges, frontispiece, initial, printed bookplate, (joints split, headcaps missing, binding worn in places with scuffing, some leather missing on the spine, corners bumped, rare foxing in the interior, dampstaining on the first pages of vol. I), interior fresh and well preserved, [9 ff.]-796 / [6 ff.]-388-[6 ff.]-300-92-[19 ff.].
    Berriat, in his history of Roman law (p. 165), states, "We therefore believe that a lawyer should have in his library editions of the pure text and of the two glosses, or at least of that of Denis Godefroy." From the perspective of the text itself, the corpus established by Godefroy enjoyed considerable success. Here we have the most sought-after Elzevirian edition of the Corpus Juris, in the version of Gothofredus augmented with notes from the principal commentators, including those of Cujas, among the most frequently cited even today.
