The school of the new social defense was one of the richest sources of inspiration for post-war French criminal law. Presented here is a set of three monographs produced by the Center for Social Defense Studies at the Institute of Comparative Law of the University of Paris: the first volume, which constitutes a manifesto of this movement; volumes IV and V, devoted to the prevention of criminal offenses; volume VI, which is one of the most thorough and remarkable studies on the criminal treatment of juvenile delinquents; and volume VII, on the rehabilitation of mentally handicapped juvenile delinquents.
