According to Camus (nos. 1616-1618), “Mr. Merlin is a very learned jurist: his works (...) are in every library; they are cited in every trial, and they are nonetheless consulted in secret and with profit by those who render them the least justice in public (sic).” Merlin's Répertoire de Jurisprudence, presented here in its definitive and most complete edition, bringing together all the volumes of questions and the very important general index, constituted, during the first part of the 19th century, the most important work on French law. It is presented here in fairly good condition for most of the volumes, with the exception of those mentioned above, which have probably suffered water damage.
