(Dupin No. 1192). A remarkable treatise on criminal law from the late 18th century, a comparative reading of which shows that it surpasses many of the commentaries on Louis XIV's ordinances usually cited on this subject. It is valuable for its exhaustive and methodical approach. It is further supplemented by an index of over 40 pages, which makes it particularly easy to consult. Outline: I - On the nature of crimes and punishments, II - On the jurisdiction of judges, III - On the manner of conducting trials, IV - Edicts, declarations, decrees, and regulations issued since the ordinance. This edition is not cited by Dupin. It is in fact identical to the 5th edition published in 1751 (which Dupin also does not cite).
