(Dupin no. 979). The works of Henrys, who was the King's Advocate at the Presidial Court of Forez, enjoyed great success, being regularly reprinted from 1650 until the end of the 18th century. The author was considered a model of eloquence and rigorous reasoning. These volumes contain a collection of pleadings presented by the author for the royal administration, and a general collection of legal questions aimed at compiling the jurisprudence of all the parliaments of France in an attempt to establish the foundations of a common law. The author, moreover, opposes those (Coquille, Dumoulin) who claim that this common law should be found in customs and, for his part, seeks it in Roman law. Our edition, the latest and most complete, is augmented with numerous posthumous texts.
