Christian Chêne points out (p. 265) that Maynard and Catellan appear as the two principal judges of the Parliament of Toulouse and that Maynard was still one of the most frequently consulted in the second half of the 18th century, even though the first edition of his collection dates from 1600. This is explained by the high reliability of the reported judgments (Maynard was a councilor in the Parliament and uses many judgments in his reports) and a very nuanced doctrinal discussion of the best authors of the late 16th and 17th centuries (Charondas, Cujas, Coquille, etc.). It is also explained by the fact that, although reporting judgments of the Parliament of Toulouse, the author also considered the decisions of other parliaments, and especially the Parliament of Paris, thus giving his text additional breadth. In every respect, a reference work. Chapter VI of Book Four contains a legal analysis of the trial of Martin Guerre. The book also contains numerous decisions from the Toulouse parliament concerning the university, the countries, and the Toulouse justice system.
