    First Edition. This notice is attributed to Sieyès himself, but it is more likely by Oelsner (France litt., IX, 133), his translator and editor of his works in German. It is known to be one of the major sources of information on Sieyès's political development (see P. Bastid, Sieyes et sa pensée, 2nd ed. 1970), even if it often portrays him in a more favorable light during the revolutionary events than history has recorded. Rare.
