IOANNIS PETRI FERRARII PAPIENSIS IURISCONSULTI CLARISSIMI AUREA PRAXIS
Édition :
    Frankfurt/Main
Date :
    1575
folio, mottled brown calf, spine with raised bands and gilt decoration, marbled edges, title page missing, replaced in the 18th century by a handwritten page, on which the original frontispiece has been pasted, (skin wear and scratches on the covers, slight losses to the lower corners of the front cover and to the spine, some foxing), a good copy despite the aforementioned defects, 40 f.-551 p.
One of the most classic texts of 16th-century procedural law, striking in its methodical presentation, and in which the final chapter devoted to the “forma inquisitionis” is particularly noteworthy, probably constituting one of the best sources in terms of strict legal technique concerning the Inquisition. The repair of the flyleaf was likely done by the bookbinder who noted on the last page: “on account of 35 livres to have bound in Valence 1700 Dechambesson” (see, on the life of this noble jurist, an extract from a family of the Vivarais, the Déglodebaisse, Valence media library FL US929-2 ROM p. 51).
