    Fabrot, a professor at the University of Aix in the early 17th century, is particularly known for his scholarly edition of the collection of Basilicas, which until then had only been partially published. It is especially the history of this text and its reception by Western law, beginning with Cujas and continuing throughout the 17th century, that the author recounts with remarkable precision and erudition. In our opinion, it is one of the best 19th-century texts on this aspect of the re-evaluation of Roman law in the modern era.
