Our work can be considered the first general treatise on arbitration after the Code of Civil Procedure, insofar as Merson's work focused solely on compulsory arbitration. It is a high-quality monograph with an interesting structure: an exegetical exposition of each provision of the Code of Civil Procedure or the Commercial Code, followed by various questions and decisions that revisit controversial points to further explore their analysis, thus employing the same method of exposition as Delvincourt in civil law. The edition we are presenting is not held by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) or Berkeley, although it does not appear significantly different from the second edition of 1827 held by these institutions.
