in-8, half brown calf, smooth spine decorated, set of titles in garnet morocco, (joints slightly split, corners bumped, some foxing, XXIV-476 p.
(BNF 28 385, Harvard AUJ 3158 – with a slightly different title: “Codice civili” instead of Napoleono’s – missing from Berkeley, Dupin no. 1429, Dramard no. 142). The only published edition of this fundamental text, written by a professor at the Faculty of Law in Strasbourg who was Klimrath’s mentor and inspiration, and who, in the Germanic tradition, offers one of the first interpretations of the Civil Code, placing it not within the perspective of the future School of Exegesis, but within a Romanist and historicist framework. It should also be noted that the structure of the work follows that of Roman law, not that of the Civil Code. A rare text.
