(Dupin No. 94). FIRST EDITION. Heineccius is an extremely important 18th-century German author. Born in 1680, he was a professor of law in Frankfurt an der Oder and Halle, as well as an advisor to the King of Prussia. According to Dupin, his work is on par with that of Cujas, and his commentary on Grotius's "De Jure belli ac pacis" is one of only two or three that have stood the test of time. Besides its doctrinal interest, this work contains a complete theory of the rules of royal succession (pp. 366-399) illustrated by an interesting series of theoretical diagrams.
