    The first edition of this sequel, which is in particular a response to de Bonald's text "Reflections on the memorandum to be consulted by Count de Montlosier," takes a more striking turn at the end of the work, showing in a rather prophetic way that the Restoration, under Charles X, was drawing to a close. The tone is vindictive, as are the attacks against the Jesuits and the Sulpician spirit.
