CORMENIN (the baron of)
QUESTIONS OF ADMINISTRATIVE LAW, 2nd ed.
Édition :
    Paris
Date :
    1823
2 vols. in-8, half-fawn calf, smooth spine richly decorated, marbled edges, (slight impact at the bottom of the 1st plate of vol. 1 and on the 2nd plate of vol. 2, some foxing), CCXXX-426 / 532 p.
Consulting this extremely rare edition (not held at Berkeley, not at Harvard, only one copy in the BNF) demonstrates that it represents a pivotal, though little-studied, step in the author's legal thought. He published "Du Conseil d'État considérée comme Conseil et comme juridiction sous notre Monarchie constitutionnelle" in 1818, and here he expands upon it from a technical perspective (see, in particular, the annotated commentary on the 1806 decree establishing the Council's rules of procedure), but before the series of reforms that, in 1830, would lead him to produce a new edition in the form of a treatise, the 5th edition of 1840. Beautiful romantic binding.
