quarto, half blond calf, smooth spine decorated, very fine copy, Ex-Libris of P. de la Morandière and MA Guy du Plessis, facsimile of 2 handwritten letters from D'Aguesseau, CXVI-583 p.
This is a first edition of part of d'Aguesseau's correspondence, published when he experienced a return to fortune under the Restoration (see above). This correspondence covers, in particular, the entire period during which he was removed from the chancellery and ordered to retire to his estate in Fresnes (1718-1722). He wrote extensively during this time, especially to his son, who was running for the position of attorney, and to some of his friends. This is the complete collection of this important correspondence. It includes an account of all these events, advice given to his son on the studies he should pursue, and supplements the famous "Instruction" (see above) that was published during his lifetime.
