    First published by Dalloz in 1924 (a first edition exists from 1909 by Bruilland), this text enjoyed considerable influence, going through eight editions until 1942 before being updated and revised by Jean Vincent starting with the 9th edition. It is, in fact, the basis for Vincent's Précis Dalloz de procédure civile (Dalloz Concise Treatise on Civil Procedure), which reached its 26th edition in 2001. We thus have here a text that has spanned the century. There are few examples, apart perhaps from Colin and Capitant and Aubry and Rau, that have enjoyed such a long publishing history. Reading this work reveals a thoughtful, progressive, and remarkably doctrinal approach.
