SUMMARY DECISIONS OF THE PALACE, IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, ILLUSTRATED WITH NOTES AND SEVERAL RULINGS OF THE PARLIAMENT OF BORDEAUX, latest edition revised, corrected and augmented with a large number of Decisions and Rulings collected from the Memoirs of several Illustrious Senators of this Parliament
Édition :
    Bordeaux
Date :
    1717
folio, mottled brown calfskin, spine with raised bands and gilt decoration, gilt title on spine, mottled edges, initials, vignettes and tailpieces, old manuscript ex-libris, (scratches, abrasions, losses on the covers, spine, edges and corners, stained endpapers, detached title page, faded with losses and stains, foxing and dampstaining, tear on p. 209-210, restored, last leaf partially detached), (5 leaves) - 540 pages - 3 leaves.
Originally considered a simple compilation, these Decisions became, according to Bernaudau, “the most consulted compendium of local jurisprudence at the time,” to the point that six successive editions appeared in Toulouse in 1689 and in Bordeaux until 1807. The foreword to this edition explains in a few words the tone of the text: “This author recognized that it was more useful [...] to provide a prompt and succinct resolution [...]. This singular style in which he wrote should not be so unusual, since the Decisions of the Court, being nothing other than maxims, must imitate the Laws, whose style must be positive and concise.” Our copy is presented here in used condition.
