The first comprehensive study on pollution and environmental problems, particularly concerning water. The first part, devoted to French law, presents the legal problem from three complementary perspectives: Prevention (analysis of the law of December 16, 1964); Repression (study of Article 434 of the Rural Code and highlighting extensive case law); and Compensation for damages (assessment of harm, the issue of causality between fault and damage, and civil liability). The second part, focusing on international law, addresses the pollution of international rivers and lakes, and then marine pollution. It reveals that the division of maritime space into geographical zones subject to different legal regimes exacerbates the complexity of the problem, especially regarding damages.
