“This book comprises two parts. First, a summary of a study on the history of Church law texts in the Middle Ages, preceded by an outline indicating the main lines of the entire study (Dionysius and his school, the workshop of Pseudo-Isidore, the Nicholas of Saints reform, Gratian’s decree, concordance of texts). Next comes a general and systematic review of the sources of the Collectio Anselmo Dedicata (a 9th-century legal compendium, which groups 1,975 texts into 12 books; the first to recognize the legal importance of the work of Saint Gregory I, from whom it borrows 268 texts). The second part consists of the text of the Collectio, or rather, a detailed table of the texts it contains (the author expresses the hope of being able to publish it in its entirety). Finally, there is an Index Fontium and a synoptic table indicating how many times each source is used in each of the twelve parts of the Collectio.” » (J. Jolivet, Revue de l'histoire des religions, n°2/1961, p. 242 et seq.).
