A very rare copy and the last edition of this treatise, which occupies a unique place in the history of civil law education in France. As the author emphasizes in his foreword, "We intended to produce a work of scholarship, not fiction. Jurisprudence constitutes the raw material upon which our research must be based…Therefore, we have reduced dialectic to a bare minimum…We have cleared the ground by minimizing historical notions: these ritualistic and almost age-old preludes…seemed to us quite artificial and conventional." And it is true that the entire work has a provocative character that earned it considerably less success than its competitors. Bibliography: 1st ed. 1930 (3 vols. Paris, Éditions du Recueil Sirey) / 2nd ed. 1932-1933 (3 vols. Paris, Éditions du Recueil Sirey) + updated fascicle in 1936 / 3rd ed. 1938-1940 (3 vols. Paris, published by Recueil Sirey).
