    E. O., of the author's least known work, despite his being one of the principal drafters of the 1838 law, which profoundly reformed the commercial code on this subject. This is also the reason for the publication of this treatise, which subsequently saw a new Belgian edition in 1852 and a French one in 1857. It should be noted that it contains an extensively annotated bibliography of ancient and modern commercial law and a substantial index; all in all, a major and decisive text on the matter.
